You’re in Hangzhou (one of the biggest cities in China). You’ve been sightseeing for the whole day. It’s got dark and you haven’t eaten anything since lunch. Your stomach is loudly complaining about its mistreat. You don’t have a choice. You start looking around in search of something to eat. You turn around the corner and – jackpot! There’s whole alley with street food. You walk from one stand to another mesmerized by the colours, shapes, and smells. So many choices. You’re hesitant what to buy. Then you see something that really differs from any other food you’ve seen so far. By the first look you know you’ve found your place…

Have you seen any Chinese costume/historical movie? If you go to Zhouzhuang it will make you feel as if you just found yourself in one. Don’t misunderstand – there are no cosplayers. There is something else – a town with a few hundred years of history. Walking down very narrow streets between wooden houses (some as old as 500 years) really makes you feel as if you’ve gone back in time… You enjoy long walks. You spend large amount of your free time exploring the city and its surroundings. Once in a while one of your friends wants to join you in your wanders. You’re ready to go, but she asks you to wait for a moment. She needs to take her umbrella. You look at the sky – perfectly clear. However you look at it, the day appears to be sunny and pleasantly warm. Does she know something you don’t? Quite confused you turn to your friend and say “I don’t think it’s going to rain today”. She looks through the window: “Me neither. But it’s very sunny”. |
