Whenever you’re going abroad there’s always one dilemma that strikes you while packing your stuff. You want to take with you your laptop, camera, mobile phone. Each of them at some point inevitably will require charging. You know that for sure. You pack chargers for all them and then comes sudden realization “Will I really be able to plug them in?”…
System of plugs and sockets isn’t unified. Their shapes and sizes differ between countries. What to do? The easiest and safest choice is to buy a universal travel adaptor and take it with you. That’s how you proceed. It’s better to be prepared than sorry.
How is it with China? At your new apartment you unpack yourself and start your ‘plug in’ experiment. You find a socket and look at it in dismay. It has 5 holes! You take your charger and compare its plug to the socket. It doesn’t look very promising. Nevertheless you try and… surprisingly it fits. You connect your mobile and it works! It’s charging.
Very satisfied with the outcome of your experiment you start to wonder why there are 5 wholes in Chinese socket. You find it out quite quickly. In China there are 2 different types of plugs. Why? Well, THAT is the mystery. You didn’t manage to solve it even after one year spent in China.
Either way the experiment was successful. If you have electric devices with European plugs – don’t worry! They will work. In other case better take your adaptor.
